Spread the love

Can you moisturise oily skin? Won’t I Get spots if I use a moisturiser on my oily skin? These are questions I hear all the time and the answer is yes! You absolutely can and should moisturise your skin even if it is oily.

But what is the best moisturiser for oily skin? and what should you be looking for in a moisturiser for oily skin.

I’m here to clear this up for you so you can confidently moisturise your oily skin without the fear of more breakouts just beautiful mattified healthy skin.

Why do I have oily skin

Everybody’s skin produces oil, it is a completely normal process, our skin needs it to keep healthy and it comes from little glands that sit right at the bottom of each pore at the base of every hair follicle, called sebaceous glands.

The oil they produce is called sebum. But some of us produce more than others due to our hormones and it can give our skin a greasy feel and shiny appearance.

Why should you moisturise oily skin

It can be a common feeling to not want to moisturise your oily skin through fear of making it worse but in actual fact by not moisturising, your skin will over compensate by producing more oil.

What to look out for in a moisturiser for oily skin

So firstly you want to look for a moisturiser that is non-comodogenic. This means it will not clog your pores.

A moisturiser that will control sebum levels is great for you and one that will have a mattifing effect and control shine.

If you suffer from spots too, the addition of bacteria fighting ingredients is good or look for blemish control properties.
