The Best Products for Dry Skin – Get Back Your Glow
Does your skin feel tight and itchy? Often worse when you get out of the bath or the shower?Does your make up always collect in patches and never sit smoothly?
If you answered yes to these questions we need to inject some serious moisture into your skin with some amazing skin boosting products to get your skin glowing again!
But what are the best products for dry skin? Well sit tight I’m going to tell you exactly what you need!
It may be that your skin is loosing moisture due to a compromised barrier function, this is a protective layer on your skin that keeps moisture in and external aggressors like pollution and UV out.
Sometimes this protective barrier can be disrupted and your essential moisture within your skin maybe struggling to stay put, this is called Trans Epidermal Water Loss, leaving your skin feeling dry and dehydrated.
This can be caused by a number of things, using soaps that contain harsh chemicals, perfumes and sulfates that strip your skin.
Wipes although I know they can be really convenient they can be really harsh on your skins barrier so avoid these at all cost.
Washing your face in water that’s too hot, using rough wash cloths or flannels will really dry it out, stick to luke warm water and pat gently to dry, try not rub with a towel or use any rough wash cloths or flannels.
OK so now I’ve told you what not to do so what should you be doing? Within you skin is a very important component called hyaluronic acid, the reason this is so important is because it draws in water from the surrounding tissues and can hold up to 1000 times its own weight so adding this to your skincare will do wonders for your dry skin!
The best Cleanser for dry skin
I would always advise going for a cleansing milk or cream cleanser as apposed to a face wash or foam.
Cleansing milks tend to be much more gentle, they are still good at removing make up and impurities without drying out the skin.
Try Nakin’s Anti Aging Advanced Cleansing milk, this is an all natural award-winning product, loved by many. It invigorates the skin by stimulating cellular turnover leaving the skin clear, bright and radiant.
It encourages collagen and elastin production whilst evening out skin tone.
It contains no harsh ingredients that will irritate the skin only amazing hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid which penetrates deeper into the dermis for more hydration.
This product is wheat, gluten and cruelty free, vegan friendly, free from dyes, parabens and harsh ingredients.
If you just want a cleanser for dry sensitive skin but not necessarily anti ageing then this one is ideal.
Skinceuticals Gentle Facial Cleanser for Dry Skin
Even the most sensitive skin types can use this beautiful product with soothing orange oil and hydrating emollients it gentally cleanses dry tight skin leaving it soft and smooth and is safe to use multiple times a day.
One of the best ways to get hyaluronic acid back into your skin is with a treatment serum. These target dry skin by getting the ingredients needed deep into the dermal layer where they are needed.
Serums are thinner so they can penetrate the upper layers to get to where they need to be. A treatment serum is applied after you cleanse, they are light in texture and are quickly absorbed.
When going for a serum to treat dry skin look for a product that’s going to repair that hydro lipid barrier now don’t worry I don’t expect you to know what to look for here so this is a product containing Vitamin B5 or Niacinamide.
This is an excellent ingredient for this especially if you suffer from redness prone skin as will help soothe and calm too. It also has great anti ageing properties. You also of course would want your serum to contain the amazing hydrating hyaluronic acid.
I recommend Skinceuticals Hydrating B5
This has everything you could need from a hydrating serum, the B5 will protect and restore your skins barrier to lock in that all important moisture and protect your skin from external aggressors which could make it even dryer and also dramatically age the skin.
It also contains hero ingredient hyaluronic acid. win win!
This will leave your skin feeling supple and smooth, it’s a non oily formula that won’t clog your pores.
The Best Moisturiser For Dry Skin
A good moisturiser is essential in maintaining the health of the outer layers of the skin, usually when you have exceptionally dry skin you want to go for something with more of an emollient texture.
I highly recommend Skinceuticals Emollience
It’s a water based moisturiser so it will not make your skin feel greasy but is packed full of specific deeply hydrating ingredients like lipids and essential oils to restore even the most dehydrated sensitive skin types.
For an added intense moisture hit you can add this weekly moisture masque to your routine.
Skinceuticals Hydrating B5 Masque
It contains the deeply hydrating B5 and hyaluronic acids plus some added Natural Moisturising Factors(NMF) which are a fantastic natural component within our skin important in maintaining moisture.
You can add the masque to your weekly regimes and to any extra dry bits like hands, knees and elbows!
Final Thoughts
Having a good daily skincare regime that includes cleansing, a treatment serum, moisturising and of course an SPF is essential for maintaining good skin health.
Make sure to cleanse morning and evening with luke warm water with a gentle cream cleanser, pat dry before applying your treatment serum, ideally containing hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5. Follow this with your moisturiser and lastly SPF!
You’ll soon have banished the dry dull skin in no time.

Thanks for your comment Ola.
I always thought that drying your face with a rough towel rubs off dead skin, but now that I read your article, I realize that that is actually bad for you if you have dry skin … Good to know.
Skinceuticals Emollience looks like a nice product.
Thank you for this great information and for the tips on what not to do!
Hi Christine, I know I was the same don’t worry! I used give my skin a good rub down with a towel too but yes it actual is going make your skin much dryer and damage that essential protective barrier that keeps moisture in so just a gentle pat dry with a soft clean towel is all we need to do and the skinceuticals Emollience is a great product for adding moisture to very dry skin. I love it.

These products are not highly perfumed so I should’t think so but if he would prefer to shop for skincare specifically aimed at male skin he should have a look here https://beautifulskinguru.com/the-best-skincare-for-men-top-6-products/
